4 Signs You Aren’t Eating Enough VegetablesSeptember 12, 2022

The average American adult lives an extremely busy life. When you have a limited amount of time to get something to eat during your workday, it is easy to stop by your local fast-food restaurant. Eating a steady diet of this highly-processed food can leave your body craving essential vitamins and nutrients.

Over 25 percent of adults in the United States report eating fast food on a daily basis. Most fast food restaurants don’t provide healthy vegetables. Failing to consume vegetables is extremely bad for your health.

If you aren’t eating enough vegetables, you will probably start to notice the warning signs covered in this article.

  1. You Bruise Easily

Failing to eat enough vegetables can result in several vitamin deficiencies. One of the most important things your body needs to thrive is plenty of vitamin C. Not only does this vitamin help to keep your immune system strong, but it also aids in collagen production.

If you start to notice you’re bruising easily, this could be an indication that your vitamin C levels are low. When vitamin C deficiencies are present in the body, skin elasticity will be affected. You can boost your vitamin C levels by consuming more white potatoes, tomatoes, broccoli, and bell peppers.

  1. Issues With Memory Fog

As you age, it is normal to forget things. However, if you notice that your memory is always foggy, you need to figure out why. While things like stress can cause memory issues, this problem is usually attributed to a bad diet. Lutein is an antioxidant that is known to revive a person’s ability to learn and recall things from memory.

This antioxidant can be found in vegetables like carrots, tomatoes, and many leafy greens. By consuming more of these vegetables, you can bring yourself out of the fog in no time.

  1. You Always Feel Hungry

Most processed foods contain a lot of calories. However, they will not keep you full for very long. This is because the body absorbs these foods quickly and then will start to crave more. If you feel like you are unable to get full, it is time to change your diet.

Consuming more vegetables will leave you feeling full for long periods of time. This is due in part to the high fiber content most vegetables have. The more fiber a vegetable has, the longer it will take the body to digest it. This means you will feel fuller for a longer amount of time when consuming the right foods.

  1. Problems With Your Mood

The lack of proper nutrition will usually leave a person feeling down and lethargic. Processed foods will give you a sudden burst of energy followed by a noticeable crash. These worst crashes are usually caused by pasta, bread, and sugar-filled foods/drinks. Instead of dealing with these crashes, you need to realize the importance of incorporating more vegetables into your daily diet.

Rather than dealing with the problems covered in this article, it is time to seek out healthier food options.
